Aim small, miss small

Narrowing your focus from a broad target, like 'the green', down to one small, specific point sharpens concentration and reduces vague, unfocused swings.

beginnerApplied to every shot in one dedicated session per week

How to perform it

  1. 1.Resist the instinct to aim at a broad area like 'the fairway' or 'the green'.
  2. 2.Pick one small, specific point within that area — a discoloured patch of grass, a divot, even a dimple on the ball for putts.
  3. 3.Hold your full visual focus on that single point through setup and into your swing trigger.
  4. 4.Execute the shot committed to that narrow point rather than the general zone.

What you should learn

  • How a narrow, specific focus reduces hesitation and indecision over the ball.
  • Whether you personally respond better to a narrow or wide point of focus.

After a few weeks of practice

Your swings feel more committed and less steered, and dispersion often tightens, particularly on putts and precision approach shots.
