Power & Tempo
Pumping the club partway down from the top, several times before releasing, trains a hips-first downswing sequence instead of an arms-first cast.
advanced3 pumps plus 1 full release, 10 sets, 2-3 times a week
How to perform it
- 1.Swing to the top of your backswing and pause.
- 2.Start down by bumping and rotating your hips first, letting the club drop into the slot, then stop partway down.
- 3.Return to the top and repeat the pump motion two or three times, feeling hips, torso, arms and club fire in that order each time.
- 4.On the final rep, continue all the way through to impact and a full finish.
What you should learn
- •The correct ground-up sequence: hips, then torso, then arms, then club.
- •What it feels like to retain lag into the downswing instead of casting it away early.
After a few weeks of practice
You'll feel the club drop into the slot more reliably, retain more lag, and generate more effortless-feeling power and compression at impact.
