Power & Tempo
Starting with your feet together and stepping toward the target as you swing trains proper weight transfer and a lower-body-led downswing.
intermediate5-8 reps per set, 3 sets, 2-3 times a week
How to perform it
- 1.Address the ball with your feet together or in a narrow stance.
- 2.As you start the backswing, step your lead foot toward the target, like a baseball hitter's stride.
- 3.Plant the lead foot and swing through to a full finish, letting the step initiate the downswing.
- 4.Swing at or near full effort each rep — this drill is as much about speed as sequencing.
What you should learn
- •What a lower-body-led downswing feels like instead of starting down with the arms.
- •How weight transfer into the lead side generates speed without extra effort.
After a few weeks of practice
You'll pick up real clubhead speed, transfer weight into your lead side more completely, and make ball-first contact more consistently.
