Lesson 1 of 7
Hold the club so the face returns square, without any extra hand tension.
~5 minAny club
Steps
- 1.Hold the club out in front of you and lay it diagonally across your lead hand's fingers, not the palm.
- 2.Close your lead hand — you should see two or three knuckles when you look down at address.
- 3.Set your trail hand on so the lifeline covers your lead thumb, fingers wrapping naturally underneath.
- 4.Grip firm enough to swing the club without dropping it, no firmer — think 'holding a tube of toothpaste without squeezing it out.'
Why it helps
The grip is your only connection to the club — a bad one causes most of the slices, hooks, and tension that beginners fight.
Your assignment
Before hitting any balls, take your grip and re-set it 10 times from scratch until it feels automatic.
