Lesson 6 of 7
Extend into a full swing without rushing the transition.
~20 minMid-ironBalls
Steps
- 1.Start from the same setup and rhythm as your half swings.
- 2.Gradually lengthen the backswing over several reps, keeping the same smooth tempo.
- 3.Count 'one-two-three' back and 'one' down to keep the transition from rushing.
- 4.If contact gets worse as the swing lengthens, go back a step and shorten it again.
Why it helps
Beginners speed up from the top trying to hit harder, which ruins the sequence built in the half-swing stage.
Your assignment
Hit 15 balls, gradually building from three-quarter swings to full swings, only lengthening when contact stays solid.
